CHILDREN'S WINTER ART COMPETITION
Marvel at the creativity of Dublin's young artists

As part of ‘Dublin City Council Dublin Winter Lights 2025’, Dublin City Council invited children to take part in an exciting Winter Art Competition. The winning artworks are projected at Barnardo Square on Dame Street during the month of December. You can see the entries by playing the animation below. This year, over 1,000 entries were received. This fantastic response means the animation runs for 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Submissions

Entry is open to anyone under the age of 18. All entrants must obtain parental/guardian consent before applying for the competition. All submissions must use the template below.

Guidelines for artwork:

  • Artwork should be portrait in a aspect of 9:16
  • Artwork should follow the theme of ‘Dublin City Centre Twinkles at Christmas’.
  • Artwork should not contain any branding or political messaging.
  • Artwork may be a digital drawing, painting, sketch, collage, etc., but must be submitted as a high-resolution file or scanned in .jpeg, .png, or .pdf format.
  • Please label your file with your name/organisation/group name.
  • Please do not place your name/group name within the artwork. Entry names will be projected below the artwork.
  • Dublin City Council reserves the right to use any submitted artwork as part of promotional images and materials, including social media.
  • All applicants must be under 18 years of age as of November 25th 2025

The top entries were awarded a prize by the Lord Mayor of Dublin Councillor Ray McAdam, with those designs used as the Lord Mayor’s official Christmas card for 2025.
